This is one very interesting daguerreotype! It depicts a young gentleman with the morning coat and waist coat, imperial collared shirt with ascot and with that fancy hair do, it would seem to be from the early to mid 1800's. The back of the frame is leather. It is quite ornate with delicate gold leaf scallops around the edge that frames plumes and scrolls. The inner frame on the front is copper. The size, framed, is 3 5/8" tall by 3 1/8" wide,.
It is really interesting, however not in the greatest of shape. The part that goes over the picture like a book is missing. The binding is rough and the leather is worn. The picture has light scuffs, or streaks.
It's very old and these are getting harder and harder to find, in any condition.
