A beautiful hand painted photograph hand signed by J. Robinson Neville, circa 1920s - 1930s. Neville was a Wallace Nutting Era Photographer that is known for his New England Photographs. This beautiful hand colored piece is titled "The Bridal Path".
The frame is approximately 17" tall and 16 1/2" wide. The photographic image is approximately 9 1/2" by 7 1/2" and it is mounted on an embossed board. The photographs of this piece were taken at slight angles to reduce glare off the glass. Any darker areas are just shadows and reflections.
The backing paper has torn but was taped back together. It has a label that reads Made Exclusively For Jordan Marsh Company. Jordan Marsh was a major retail store that was located in Downtown Crossing in Boston during this time. They closed in 1991.
Condition: The colored photograph is in excellent condition. The embossed mat board is also in great condition and only shows a couple of minor dark spots that may be foxing. The gold wash on the frame has mostly worn away on the sides. The front of the frame shows some of the gold but is also worn away. The frame still looks good and has the charm and character that you would expect from a frame of this age.
