This nineteenth century oil on canvas shows a gathering of magnolia branches with a copper pot. No signature, and I suspect that this was a subject for many amateur artists in the nineteenth century (perhaps inspired by a more polished piece of art).
The 3" wide frame has a high, rounded "meshwork" molding and was restored by a professional gilder, primarily in 22K gold leaf.
(A piece of foam-core board has been attached to protect back of canvas).
A nice, attractive painting in excellent condition, with a beautiful, probably original frame.
Size: Canvas 18" x 12";23" x 17" overall.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
