This pair of large English soup plates have what I would consider a "semi-porcelain" body, with colorful decoration in a "Japan type pattern. Colors are cheerful and bright, including pink, rust, cobalt, yellow, pink and turquoise with areas of gilt.
Unmarked, but probably English, ca. 1840
Size: Approximately 10" diameter
Condition: Very good. One has very small chip on rim, edge had a gilt or ochre line which is mostly worn away. No other chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
