This Spode mug has the "stone china" body and is decorated in a fanciful "Japan" or tobacco leaf pattern (pattern no. 3875). Pattern is in blue transfer with color and gilt highlights.

Marked with painted pattern number, blue painted device and small red painted device (probably decorator marks).

While this does not have the Spode mark, examples of this pattern are shown in Godden's "Mason's China and the Ironstone Wares".

English, ca. 1820

Size: Approximately 3.125" diameter, 3.125" high

Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs.

Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
