A popular pattern with collectors ) it's original, more accurate name was "comet", which is now used for another pattern). Whether considered comets with tails or cornucopias, the pattern consists of swirls of rondels with cross hatched circles in between clear ones.
Made at both Sandwich and Pittsburgh, it is a heavy flint pattern of the 1850s.
Size: Approximately 6 3/4" high with lid.
Condition: Good. One significant and one small chip to finial. Very slight roughness around lid edge, a couple spots on base rim (some of this is from molding) and roughness to finial points. No other chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
