This hand painted Limoges vase has a most unusual "tam-o-shanter" shape (when I first saw it I thought it was a lamp shade!).
These Limoges pieces were supplied as blanks for china painters (a popular hobby and/or cottage industry in the late Victorian era). This one is painted with large roses and foliage in a variety of colors. The painting is nicely done, and the colors are subtle and harmonious.
Printed green "T&V" mark.
French porcelain, probably painted in America, circa 1900.
Size: Approximately 10" diameter, 4" high.
Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
