This clear flint whale oil lamp has a pressed base, with a blown font attached by a ribbed wafer. The font has ribbed panels around the lower section. The pressed base is a two stepped scalloped/paneled pattern, and I have never seen this before. The closest I can find is one with a flattened foot in Kaiser's "The Glass Industry in South Boston". A nice clear example.
Size: Approximately 9" high, 4.25" base diameter.
Condition: Small base flake on bottom of foot, tiny nicks on two ribs. Several manufacturing "straw marks" on base section. No other chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
