These four flow-blue plates are in the "Shanghai" pattern. It is a typical "romantic" scene of buildings by a river with some monuments, figures and a large tree in the foreground. The border has vignettes of a similar scene.
Deep blue transfer on a clear white background.
Printed mark for maker, W.H. Grindley, with pattern name.
English, ca. 1900
Size: Approximately 10" diameter
Condition: Excellent with just slight utensil marks. No chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
