This nineteenth century smoke bell is made of bell-tone, slightly opalescent hand-blown glass. There is an applied glass loop so it can be hung over the light fixture to capture the smoke and keep the ceiling clean. Once lighting became electric, these were either thrown out or sent to the attic. This one survived. It has traces of applied gilt bands that must have worn off quite easily.

Even though no longer necessary, they do make a nice accessory for your nineteenth century lighting fixture, or even as an interesting collection.

Size: Approximately 9.75" high, 6.5" bottom diameter.

Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs.

Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
