Sandwich Glass Co. threaded bowl and underplate from the 1880s. A lovely medium turquoise blue, with slight opalescence and a lovely bell tone. Fluted or ruffled edge on both pieces. Indicative of hand blown nature, a slight rise in bottom of plate allows bowl to “wobble” when resting on plate. As shown in Barlow/Kaiser Volume 4, p. 273.
Size: Plate approximately 6.5” diameter, bowl 5” diameter, 2.5” high.
Condition: Excellent. Only a few minute fleabites to threaded at bottom of bowl (felt more than seen) as you would expect on this ware.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, I would expect a return if I happen to miss anything.
