These earthenware plates were mostly from the Staffordshire district, and obviously meant as gifts for children (now we'd just buy them a smartphone). This one has a black transfer with swags and scrolls, with the message "For my dear Girl". There is polychrome enameling to highlight. The shoulder of the plate has relief floral decoration. Unmarked, but probably made in the Staffordshire district of England, circa 1835-40.
Size: Approximately 6.625" diameter.
Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
