This cut glass vase has an unusual shape, with the top tooled into a tricorn shape, making each side fan-shaped. The base has a hobstar type cut, the stem with notches and zippers. Next are hobstars, and each side features a large flower or sunburst at the top. Rim is notched and scalloped. Nice, clean and heavy (approximately 3 1/4 lbs.)
No marks, but American cut glass ca 1900
Size: Approximately 13 1/4" high, 4 3/4" base diameter.
Condition: Excellent. Rough spot on one tooth. There is a thin swirled bubble in the stem; I panicked when I saw it, but under magnification determined it is not a crack or fracture, but a spiral bubble during manufacture.
While I carefully examine my items for flaws before listing, cut glass almost always has minor spots of roughness or nicks due to the nature of its design. Anything significant or visually noticeable is described, but it is always safest to assume that these items are not likely to be found as they left the factory. While returns are never a problem, if you have a particular concern, please let me know and I will re-examine the item. Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
