This sparkling cut glass compote or comport is from the American brilliant period of cut glass. The base has a large hobstar cut, the paneled stem has zipper cuts and a hollow "teardrop" running the entire length. The bowl is cut in a design of hobstars and fans, and has a scalloped rim.
No maker's mark I can find. American cut glass ca. 1900
Size: Approximately 9 1/2" high, 7" diameter at widest point; weight approximately 3 1/2 lbs.
Condition: One pinhead flake on rim edge. No other chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
