This English cup and saucer has elaborate cobalt and gilt decoration surrounding trefoils with iron red florals.
It has a printed mark (W & C), for the maker James & Charles Wileman. The registry number (3914) was recorded in 1885-6, which fits the design period of this cup and saucer. The rich decoration makes this a lovely cabinet piece.
Size: Saucer approximately 5.5" diameter, cup 2.75 high, 3.125" top diameter.
Condition: Excellent. Only a few small wear spots to gilding. No chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
