These Wedgwood cups and saucers have an interesting color and design, an updating of the traditional London shape cup with an Art Deco design sensibility. Saucer is flat bottom (no cup ring). The hand painted design combines orange, black, a bit of green stripe with violet luster bands.
All saucers marked with impressed WEDGWOOD, with P over it; one has an impressed W plus two additional, illegible characters. Other two have what appears to be 3ES. Painted mark A5974, V. Cup painted mark A5975, b.
Perhaps a special order, as I have never seen these pattern before, and painting is not as refined as usual.
Size: Saucer approximately 5.625” diameter.
Condition: One cup slightly stained, showing glaze crazing (it appears to be the one cup used on a regular basis). No chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
