This asketweave molded tray with a reticulated edge was probably meant as an undertray for a small basket or tureen. Pearlware glaze with cobalt detailing.
No maker's mark; incised "5" probably a shape or size number.
Possibly Turner (I have a marked Turner example in my shop), but possibly by another Staffordshire district firm.)
English, ca. 1800.
Size: Approximately 8 3/4" long, 6 1/2" wide
Condition: Good. One small surface chip on end. No other chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
