With so much luster ware produced in the 19th century, it is surprising how few marked piece we find. This one has an impressed mark "Wilson". Probably for David Wilson & Sons, Staffordshire ca. 1815.
The relief decoration consists of putti in various activities, including riding in a chariot, and archery. There is a floral relief on the collar. The background color is dark brown with luster; the relief is in an ochre/orange luster.
Retains old collector's label.
Staffordshire ca. 1815.
Size: approximately 3 ½" high.
Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
