English pottery with pink luster applied haphazardly in a "splash" manner is associated with potteries in the Sunderland district. These often incorporate poems, aphorisms, etc. transfer printed in black. This large mug has a verse within a floral wreath: "My heart is fix'd, I cannot range, I love my choice, Too well to change"
This would make a sweet gift for an anniversary or other occasion for the antique-lover in your life.
Unmarked cream-colored earthenware with transfer and pink luster. English, ca. 1840-50
Size: Approximately 3 1/8" high, 3 1/2" diameter.
Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
