These four soup plates are typical of the "romantic" Staffordshire transfer patterns of the early nineteenth century. Like many others, they show an undoubtedly imaginary view of an exotic landscape with temples and flowers.
Printed backstamp has the pattern name, but a maker for this pattern has not been identified. English, ca. 1835.
A lovely set of blue and white transfer ware plates in very good condition.
Size: Approximately 10" diameter.
Condition: Excellent. One has two small chips to foot rim. No other chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
