This wooden frame mirror with acorn drops at the cornice has a reverse painting on glass panel depicting a side-wheeler steam boat. The painting was not done by a sophisticated artist, but has a dotted outline (the painter probably following a pattern), with the painting filled in "coloring book style".
Frame appears to be pine, with applied mahogany elements and veneer panels.
I have always been interested in these mirrors, because they seem to show up with identical designs in the glass and frame, with only the name of the boat changed. I suspect that many of them came from the same source, and were marketed to either passengers or crew as souvenir items.
Note: International shipping is not available for this item.
Size: Approximately 22" high, 11" wide.
Condition: Old touch-ups to the painting. No chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
