This fluted, shanked form style of can was popular between 1795-1805. It has painted pattern of what resemble fern fronds in shades of iron red/orange, alternating with gilt.
Unmarked. Shape is shown in Berthoud, but unattributed.
Size: Saucer diameter approximately 5.375", can 2.5" high, 2.5" diameter.
Condition: Some wear to gilding, particularly on high spots of ribs. No chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, I would expect a return if I happen to miss anything.
