This pair of pedestal base dessert dishes or comports have interestingly shaped bowls with reticulation in several places on bowls and bases. The design is nicely gilt, both to follow the contours of the piece and p rofied a leaf and frond decoration with a deep magenta ground.
Blue printed Davenport banner and anchor mark on bottoms, painted pattern or gilder's number (1126) and mark.
English, ca. 1850
Size: Approximately 9" x 9 1/2", 2 1/4" high.
Condition: Very good. One has two short lines in bottom of pedestal at reticulation. Some slight scratches to red ground. No other chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
