This old pot has a wonderful deep glaze over the design. When I saw it I thought of Rookwood pottery because the glaze is done so well. The artist has painted an olive green colored background and has added gold and brown leaves on one side. The lid is a deep brown, this may be a marriage to the pot but it is how I purchased it and it goes very nicely. The inside has the strainer portion in the pottery leading to the spout. The lid also has a whole it so the steam can escape. This is made of heavy redware so I'm sure if you were to use it it would keep the tea hot for some time. There are no chips or cracks to this item. IT IS RARE TO FIND ANTIQUE EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
Measures: 8 1/2" Handle to spout x 5" H x 5 1/2' W
