This is a magnificent piece depicting the pre-seduction of Leda and the Swan. The work is the prettiest we have ever come across! According to "Distinctive Limoges Porcelain by Schiffer" nude figures with other than cherubs, are not common and are highly sought after by collectors. The artwork is indescribable and 10 times better when seen in person. The artist M. Julit or Julic has chosen a beautiful ornate mold with raised relief edge to create this masterpiece on. For the main motif he has painted a beautiful young girl emerging nude, and swan by her sidem You see a serene pond surrounded by a wonderful dense forest. The young girl has beautiful skin tones, wonderful detailed facial features and long brown hair. She has a shear wrap flowing from one shoulder down and around her abdomen. A beautiful magenta colored cloth or possibly her gown is laid over a rock by her side and delicate flowers and grasses surround her feet. The artist has chosen to paint a graceful swan by the young girl's side possibly to represent the young and sometimes not so attractive emerging into their grown up maturity and beauty. Beside the two is a serene pond surrounded by wispy grasses. In the background is a wonderful dense green forest. Julit has done a magnificent job giving this a three dimensional look by dabbing different colors of greens, yellows and creams for the leaves and branches. He has added lighter areas to appear as if the sun is finding its way through the dense foliage. Raised white enamel has been applied to the small white flowers, the swans neck, the shear cloth and the magenta gown adding depth to the imagines. The superb rim of the plate has been painted with gold completing this masterpiece wonderful. There is a wire on the back for hanging the charger. According to "Distinctive Limoges Porcelain by Schiffer" nude figures other than cherubs, are not common and are highly sought after by collectors. It is in excellent condition - no chips, cracks, repairs, or crazing. The original gold border is in excellent condition with very little wear on the edges - very minor.
