The use of gold is one of Pickard’s trademarks and it definitely shows on this plate. This pretty plate has two thin gold rings and one large gold ring within the design, plus has a gold rim. The larger gold ring is outlined in black and has 3 designs interspersed around it. The design is made up of white and blue morning glory like flowers and bright green leaves and vines. A larger gold leaf has been painted underneath the flower. There is a small rim nick that has been covered with gold and slight wear to one of the designs, please see pictures. There are no cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.

Backstamp: WA Pickard Maple Leaf Mark 7, ca. 1912-1918
