This plate depicts one of the scenes from Ridgways Coaching Days and Coaching Ways Series. The scene depicts gentleman huddled around a back of a carriage apparently “Filling the Boot” while the lady waits to board. In those days “Filling the Boat” could mean filling a cup or flask with drink. The boarder of this plate is awesome; it has raised relief scrolls, ferns and geometric designs around the scalloped rim setting this apart from other newer ones. There are no hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
