These are exceptional pieces of artwork. The mold used for these plates has shell shaped sides and ruffled rims. There are beaded raised relief ridges extending from the rim down toward the center of the plate. The artist has applied gold to the rim, ridges and has added multiple pairs of gold strokes upon the white background on the sides. The main attractions of these Limoges pieces are the floral paintings in the centers. He has painted beautiful red poppies and wispy greenery on one. He has painted every vein of the flowers and leaves with small intricate lined strokes. In the center of the poppies he has added a green center and has painted the stamen part of the flower black. The second plate he has added red outlined honey suckle flowers with deep green and brown leafy vines. The inside of the flower petals are a mixture of fine red strokes on background of green, yellow and white. The stamens of these flowers are brown and yellow adding contrast for the red petals. The third plate the artist has painted beautiful red spider chrysanthemums with yellow centers. He has added blue-green and brown leaves intermingled with the flora. He has continued to use outline and fine individual strokes on this plate also. The last plate has red star like flowers which he has outlined in a deep red. The stamens of these flowers have been painted black and red accenting the red flowers beautifully. The artist has initialed the back of these pieces. There are no chips, hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc. Trust me the neighbors will not have these beauties, that is unless they buy them!!
