This plate just gives you a very soothing feeling when you look at it. The artist has used a mold with a much raised relief edge that has cartouches and a small band of raised flowers along the slightly scalloped edge. He uses a background of deep beige that gradually softens into creamy beige. For the motif of this piece he has painted beautiful white morning glories that have been accented with a deep rich pink, defining the veins running up the sides of the flowers. He has put a deep yellow center giving the added contrast of colors that this piece needed. “Max” has placed light green leaves and vines intermingling between the flowers and connecting them together. . This is beautiful Limoges plate painted by one of the finest early 20th Century French Studio artists ‘MAX’. He is featured and listed as a well known French artist in Mary Gaston's reference book: 'Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain' 3rd edition, plates 273, 299, 306, 593, 594, 720, 878 & 893. There are no chips, hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
