The Rainier cherry is the sweetest, prettiest and most pampered of cherries, as delicate as it is lucrative. If the wind blows too hard, the cherry bruises from rubbing against another cherry. If it rains more than a day, the cherry busts its skin. This artist definitely reflexes this definition through his masterpiece. He has started his creation on a gold trimmed scalloped, two handled cake plate blank. He has painted a large cluster of vibrant red and yellow cherries on one side of the plate and has extended a branch with a smaller cluster down and around one side. The other side he has extended a light green branch with leaves. Each cluster has several cherries painted on green stems nestled by beautifully green leaves and brown tree bark. The artist has pained purple shadowy leaves outlined in the background giving this piece depth. The background this wonderful painting consists of light purple, greens and creams all flowing graciously together. One of the gold painted handles has some rub wear due to the age of this piece. There are no hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc
