This is truly a one of a kind cake plate! First of all it is a beautiful mold. It is slightly scalloped with raised relief on the rim giving it an indented look. Where it is indented it has raised beading on the rim. The edge of the mold also appears to have a slight ruffle look. This piece has two pierced handles with raised relief beading and crossed branches. The edging, rim and handles have been painted with gold. The artist sectioned the rim in 8 panels, painting gold bands to form the sections. He then outlined the gold in black giving it more definition. Three panels on each side have a scene hand painted in them. Two panels have a road leading to a barn with beautiful fall colored trees around it. Two panels have a road in the front with a Holland type windmill and colorful trees in the distance. Two panels have a road that almost appears to continue from the second scene and then in the distance the back of a building with the colorful trees. The center of plate and the two panels around the handles have a white background. There are no chips, hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
