The well known porcelain artist ‘Max’ has applied his talents to this wonderful rendition of wild roses. He has painted the background in soft hues of light aquamarine and creams. He has chosen a mixture of white and pink for the rose petal. Accenting the flowers with a yellow and green center outlined in a darker pink giving the flowers the added touch. He has used various green hues for the leaves, buds and stems as if some of them were in the shadows. This plate has almost a vellum appearance due to the soft muted color choices. This is beautiful Limoges plate by one of the finest early 20th Century French Studio artists. ‘MAX’ is featured and listed as a well known French artist in Mary Gaston's reference book: 'Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain' 3rd edition, plates 273, 299, 306, 593, 594, 720, 878 & 893. This piece is in excellent condition no cracks or crazing, however there is a small nice on back of rim not seen from the front of this wonderful piece. A must have for any collector or just lover of hand painted porcelain!!
