This design is also one that Zell potteries use. It is covered in a beautiful turquoise tin glaze and has a decorative scroll like edge. These plates have birds, grapes and leaves done in pastels and earth tones with the grapes being done in purple that pops and the feet and beak of the birds in black. The typical raised elements that are accustomed with majolica are found on these plates. The raised relief is well defined and very nicely painted, there are some of the higher portions that have lost some paint. There are no chips or cracks. Please see pictures for condition. IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE MAJOLICA IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
This would make a wonderful addition to any majolica collection. Check out our other matching pieces listed. If you search on Turquoise it should bring these up.
The plates are pictured in the book titled "Majolica" by Mark F. Moran. B
