Majolica /Faience Pottery Cabinet Plate~ Decorated with Colorful Peacock ~ H Boulenger & CO France ~ 1860-1910 This is a very beautiful majolica plate that was manufactured in Choisy le Roi France. The faience factory produced majolica from 1860 until 1910. The "H B" stands for Hippolyte Boulenger a director at the pottery. The factory's work was some of the most delicate produced in France. This plate is from an animal plate series manufactured by the Boulenger Factory. This exceptionally beautiful faience plate is a companion piece to several other plates by Boulenger listed in our store. The peacock design is the most colorful of the set. The peacock has a beautiful mixture of blue and golds on the wide span of tail feathers. The green grass, on which he is standing, in his regal pose, gives a nice contrast to the blues. There are no chips or cracks on this beautiful piece. IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE MAJOLICA IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE. This would make a wonderful addition to any majolica collection.
This would make a wonderful addition to any majolica collection. Please see our other plates in this series!
