This is a very beautiful majolica plate that was manufactured in Choisy le Roi France. The faience factory produced majolica from 1860 until 1910. The "H B" stands for Hippolyte Boulenger a director at the pottery. The factory's work was some of the most delicate produced in France. This plate is from an animal plate series manufactured by the Boulenger Factory. This exceptionally beautiful faience plate is a companion piece to the mallard duck and pheasant plate which are listed in our store. The swan design is the hardest to come by. The swan is a beautiful white with a black mask. Beautiful blue water, green grasses and brown cattails surround her. The swan plate is one of the known series of nine and is highly sought after by collectors of early Quimper, and French faience so don’t let it slip away! There are no chips or cracks on this beautiful piece. IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE MAJOLICA IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE. This would make a wonderful addition to any majolica collection.
This would make a wonderful addition to any majolica collection. Please see our other Choisy le Roi series plates!
