We have here something very special indeed. These Feu de Four plates do not come up very often. They scream elegance and sophistication of bygone years. This is an exceptional set and would look great in the china cabinet. Imagine serving tea and sandwiches or dessert on these. These beautiful plates, with the Tulip pattern, were made in France by Haviland using the very famous "Feu de Four" firing method. In most reference books it is indicated that "Feu de Four" was only manufactured for a short period of time from 1893 to 1895. The "Feu de Four" mark was added to indicate a special firing technique and therefore more expensive. They used to mix high & low temperatures and different color melts onto the plate and then colored decoration in over glazed. Since the process was very expensive to produce these wonderful items, very few were made in comparison to the other lovely Haviland porcelain. This set is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Manufacturing anomalies may exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
