How cute!! This plate depicts a young woman sitting under a flowered lattice work arch blowing bubbles for two beautiful little girls. The girls are trying to catch the bubbles while butterflies flutter above their heads. There is a black hen and three small baby chicks in for the foreground and a larger bird sitting on the lattice work. As in almost all Froment-Richard / Antoine-Albert Richard plates you will fine his backward initials. The FR can be found in the lower right portion of the lattice work. This artist was born in 1845. He worked with Barluet Creil Montereau Manufactory since 1876 and the Sarreguemines Factory. His main themes are around children designed within delightful scenes. The most known patterns are the "Service Parisien" for Creil Montereau and The "Enfants Richard" decor for Sarreguemines. Enfants Richard and Service Parisien pieces are exhibited in several museums in France. There are no cracks or chips on this piece. The colors on this pieces are still nice and bright and the glaze looks like new. There is a 1" hairline crack on the edge but no chips on this piece. Please see pictures for condition. IT IS RARE TO FIND ANTIQUE EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
