Within a beautiful framed shadowbox is protected a wonderful faience French plate. The design on the plate appears that the lady’s has broken her favorite Porcelain or Faience piece and is very upset! The sign is indicating that this gentleman does porcelain and faience repair. He has hung a weight off of an item that he repaired display that he can make the repair last. The transfer depicts him working on a pot and the young lady weeping. His cat is rubbing against her trying to comfort her sadness. Repaired items are scattered around the flour showing his work. As in almost all Froment-Richard / Antoine-Albert Richard plates you will fine his initials FR which are on the truck at the right. This artist was born in 1845. He worked with Barluet Creil Montereau Manufactory since 1876 and the Sarreguemines Factory. His main themes are around children designed within delightful scenes. The most known patterns are the "Service Parisien" for Creil Montereau and The "Enfants Richard" decor for Sarreguemines. Enfants Richard and Service Parisien pieces are exhibited in several museums in France. There are no cracks or chips on this piece. IT IS RARE TO FIND ANTIQUE EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
Backstamp: SARREGUEMINES WITH A D V RUNNING THROUGH THE CENTER. THIS MARK WAS USED STARTING IN 1881, WHICH STANDS FOR SARREGUEMINES, DIGOIN AND VITRY-LE-FRANCOIS (P V).
