The Pickard Studio's never let us done with their magnificent work. This plate was created by artist "Deon" whom is listed on pg 301 in Alan B. Reed's reference book 'Collector's Encyclopedia of Pickard China' as a White Studio Artist not a Pickard Artist. This makes it pretty special that we have Deon's name on a Pickard stamped piece. Apparently when the book was published they didn't have a Pickard piece with his name on it. Deon has created wonderful poppies using different hues of yellow. He has given the flowers brown centers and has used raised enamel to give the centers a realist look. The bold yellow blossoms are attached to delicate wispy green stems that circle down around the plate and up around the flowers. He has placed the flora on a background of pastel blues, greens pinks and yellows. To complete his masterpiece he has added a golden rim with decorative gold insets on the plates rim. This piece is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks however it does have a 1/8" scratch on one of the petals. Please zoom the pictures to see condition. Manufacturing anomalies may exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
