This is a Colorado souvenirs plate made in France? I haven't found a plate like this one on the internet so get it before it is gone! The colors that Keller Guerin used are deep cobalt, bright yellow and a rich red orange to complete the design on the rim. They also used the colors in creating the State seal which decorates the white well of this plate. A few things were left off and changed on the state seal, maybe because it was made in France? I have only seen this seal on a vintage postcard. The red thongs around the bundle of rods and bearing on a band of red, white and blue, the word, "Union and Constitution" have been left off, the mountain does not have the three snow covered peaks and 1876 have been left off. The rest as described is what the seal has now. At the top of the seal is the eye of God within a triangle, from which golden rays radiate on two sides. Below the eye is a scroll, the Roman fasces, a bundle of birch or elm rods with a battle axe bound together. The bundle of rods bound together symbolizes strength which is lacking in the single rod. The axe symbolizes authority and leadership. Below the scroll is the heraldic shield bearing across the top on a red ground mountains. The lower half of the shield has two miner's tools, the pick and sledge hammer, crossed on a golden ground. Below the banner with the motto, "Nil Sine Numine", Latin words meaning "nothing without the Deity". There are a few rim flakes and a two inch hairline on the rim. IT IS RARE TO FIND ANTIQUE EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
