This pattern was introduced during the 1820s and produced for several decades due to its popularity. Minton originally produced this pattern in a series and used the backstamp that is shown. Other makers also produced "Chinese Marine" patterns, substituting their own initial under the word "Marine", where Minton placed an "M". This pieces does not have an initial under the work “Marine”. This piece has a beautiful shade of blue flowers placed on cream background on the outer rim of the plate. The inner design has two Asian figures in an oriental scene. Pagodas, mountains and buildings are in the background with foliage, trees, an arch and road in the foreground. The edge of this plate has a twisted rope design. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. IT IS RARE TO FIND ANTIQUE EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
