This is a wonderful watercolor depicting a rural community nestled amongst nature. The artist has painted a tall birch or aspen tree on one side of the scene with a stream running by it in the foreground. In the distance you can see a tall steeple of the town church and the mountains rising up behind it. The colors of this painted are great, the artist used soft pastels when wanting to create a soften look and bold deep colors to grab you attention on other areas. The glass is wavy and shows the age of this piece. Sorry for th glare of the flash. Reframed this would be very stunning. The artist E Willard has signed this piece E. Willard. The artist was a resident of San Francisco in 1895. Exh: Calif. State Fair, 1895. listed in "Artists in California 1786-1940 by Edan Huges
Measures: 22 3/4" L x 17"
