This is a beauty antique pitcher with its ornate golden accented flora and gold paste design! The body has a bulbous shape that gradually forms a slender neck ending with the lip of the piece. The center of the main body is a soft cream color. The front and back of the body has beautiful hand painted floral designs with raised gold paste and raised white enamel accents giving them a wonderful three dimensional look. The golden handle starts on the base in three different sections then joins to connect as on at the base of the neck. The neck has raised relief scroll work. This piece has a couple of small inside rim chips on the lip of the pitcher otherwise in great condition. 3 Manufacturing anomalies may exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
The pottery firm of Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel was started around 1892 and operated in Turn-Teplitz (Trnovany) Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. They were known for their artistically molded pottery decorated in beautiful glazes, no two pieces exactly alike. They executed works of the highest quality standards and received special recognition at World Fairs and Expositions during their years of production. Riessner, Stellmacher and Kessel (RSt&K) took the Grand Prize at the 1904 St. Louis Worlds Fair. The mark reflects the period after Eduard Stellmacher left to form his own company and only Riessner and Kessel remained.
