This will definitely brighten up any room it is displayed in. The tankard still has nice bright colors and a wonderful design. Its upper and lower portion and handle is painted a rusty red color and has raised relief designs enhanced with gold. The design has bright royal blues, greens, and reds painted in an art deco floral design on a creamy background. Black outlines really make the artwork pop! The inside of the piece has a soft cream colored background. This piece has a hairline crack on the inside edge but this does not go through. The spout has a chip that has been painted over. IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE Earthenware IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
D. F. Haynes & Co., has achieved a high reputation for the variety of excellent bodies and glazes it has produced, and still greater distinction by the beauty and originality of its designs, both in form and decoration. The most original and perhaps the most refined and beautiful was the so-called Severn ware, first made in 1885. It marked "an era in the history of American ceramics." It was a fine body of a subtle grayish-olive tint. Parian ware was also produced in the same year. In 1886, the manufacture of a fine semi porcelain in a great variety of articles, both useful and ornamental, was commenced
