This lovely pitcher is expertly hand painted with award winning yellow roses trimmed in red and foliage on a background beautifully shaded with pale blue, soft grays and creamy white. The floral design shows progression as it wraps around the pitcher. The artist painted sprigs of flowers in different stages of opening illustrating the life cycle of the flower. The centers of the open roses have been accented with heavy yellow and brown paint giving the roses a life like look. The hob-nail-style beaded handle has gold accents applied. The T & V Limoges cups are also hand painted and are accented with a gold rim. There are two cups with beautiful wild pink roses, two with red roses, one with white roses and one with soft yellow roses, which cascade down and around the cups. The yellow rose cup has a crack and a chip on the rim. It is a good display piece to go with the set but we are not including it in the value of the set. The rest of this set is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing.
From approximately the early 1880s to about 1930 several companies in the United States were producing fine porcelain. They called it "American Belleek" named so because they felt the quality of the porcelain was as good as that of the "Irish Belleek" but it was made in America; and the American market seemed prejudiced against china and porcelain made in the US so they called it "Belleek. This was the case despite the fact that Irish Belleek is not truly porcelain. Irish Belleek only requires one firing.
