You will see the black silk is adorned with sequins and small hand painted purple flowers. The ribs of the fan are black with a lacquer finish. There is a silver metal ring with a porcelain connecting disc. There are no broken fan ribs and only the tips of the 120 year old silk fan shows slight fraying. The fan is beautifully displayed in a shadow box style frame. The frame is flat gold ( not brassy ) and the red mat appears to be linen. The color of the mat is red, not red-orange. The frame has a label on the back that says SARACHEK’S. Research will show that Sarachek’s Fine Art Gallery was in business from 1922 – 1977. I believe this fan was framed by the gallery in the mid to late 1960’s based on the label. Some of the sequins have detached but are still within the frame.
