This wonderful set is larger than any in this mold that we have had before making it that more beautiful. This “Poppy” pattern was hand-painted by Pickard Studio artist John Loh better known as “Poppy John” because he decorated so many pieces of porcelain with the popular pattern. His magnificent work can be seen throughout Alan B. Reed’s reference book 'Collector's Encyclopedia of Pickard China". These two lovely pieces have been hand painted with lovely green and black centered orange poppies. The stems come up from the bottom of the pieces as if the flowers were growing up around them. The artist has painted leaves on the stems in a light green and teal color. The flowers are at the top of the pieces and have been done in orange and white petals and green and black centers. Each has 6 painted poppies, and none are exactly alike. The black accents on the golden rim are a signature of the Pickard Studio. Actually, everything painted everywhere is amazing! Such artistry and talent on display. These pieces are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks, please see pictures for condition. Manufacturing anomalies may exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
Backstamp: Pickard maroon decal Mark 2
Measures: Both pieces are 4 1/2" H x 5 ¼” L x 3 1/2" W
