This is a really neat collar box. Both ends come off to reveal the area where gentlemen would store there shirt collars. Possibly one for clean and one for dirty?? The top portion of the box has a small compartment with a decorative metal lid that fastens and locks to keep the collar studs. Inscribed on the metal is Patent March 25 1890. A detachable collar is a shirt collar separate from the shirt, fastened to it by studs. The collar is usually made of a different fabric from the shirt, in which case it is almost always white, and, being unattached to the shirt, can be specially starched to a hard cardboard-like consistency. These would be rolled up and stored in the compartments.
Measures: 9" H x 4 3/4" W
