What an amazing piece of porcelain! The American Limoges Artist `Mary Harrington' has chosen to create her work of art on this huge Old Paris Style punch bowl and three footed base. The base's ornate design is gorgeous all by it self. She has started her masterpiece with a background of an assortment of greens. The base is almost a mint green with ornate edging trimmed in roman gold, which brings out each scroll and dip in the design. The outside of the bowl is done in the same mint green background. Around the base of the bowl she has painted a beautiful darker green design outlined in gold in-between two gold rings. A third ring is painted at the base of the bowl. Inside of the rings she has painted individual brown dots. The outside rim has the same design but she has added green scroll work making a beautiful pattern extending the circumference of the bowl. She has also painted individual brown dots filling in the open area. In the design around the top of the bowl she has painted the profile of a faces facing each other. The inside of the punch bowl is a slightly different shade of green. She has painted garland looping around the bowl and from each peak of the garland has painted a tear drop shaped out of the garland. Inside of the tear drop she has painted a golden cluster of grapes. She has again filled in the area of the this magnification design with the small brown dots. I can't imagine the time it must have taken her to touch her paint brush that many times to make the dots. The artist has signed and dated the bottom of the bowl and on the base she has "Penny – MH). Punch bowl and base are free of chips, cracks and hairlines. The pictures distort the colors slightly we have tried numerous time to get the shading correct. The bowl is actual a deeper hue of green than it appears in the photo's. Now a days serving punch isn't an every day thing. My vision of using this would be for a center piece on a table. Placing a high draping floral arrangement in the center, but still allowing the inside decorations to show. What a WOW factor and wouldn't that impress the neighbors!!!
