These were the first pieces of Royal Doulton that I purchased years ago! I still love it and always will! The artist has started with a light yellow cream background and has applied beautiful transfers of a wooded landscape that encompasses the entire body of the pieces. The landscape has a lot of depth and gives the pieces a true three dimensional look. He has accented the handles, lids and rims with a deep forest green. Within the landscape on one side of the teapot he has a wonderful transfer of the character called "Anne Page". She is in a rust gown with green designs, white and green sleeves and a white head piece. She is carrying a tray with a pitcher and long stemmed glasses. The creamer of this set has the beautiful maiden "Ophelia" as it's main focal point. The lidded sugar has the character "Orlando" as the main motif with in the landscaped scene. There is a small nick on the inside of the teapot lid and the teapot spout has been repaired, please see pictures. IT IS RARE TO FIND EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.

Doulton teapot Works based on Shakespeare's characters resulted in two series of production items by Royal Doulton. Shakespeare's series #1 portrays scenes from the plays were made from 1914 until World War II and Shakespeare's series #2 was made from 1906 until 1974 featuring decorative characters from the writings.
